“Inked” is an extremely limited edition giclee print, custom printed by award-winning fine artist Robert Henry. The piece features a photograph of Toxic Goddess Dame Lebeau in a pose that showcases the extensive tattoo artwork the model has on her naked back. The process Dame Lebeau goes through to select an artist for her work is very important, “I first realize an image that I simply can’t get out of my head and take it to one of my artists to plan out placement and style. Trust is a big part of it.” Dame Lebeau notes, “My John Lennon portrait was done by Kat von D in Dallas and my back piece of Krishna and Radha is the genius of Eric Poland at Electric Eye Tattoo in Tulsa.”

The collaborative efforts of model Dame Lebeau and photographer Dirk Hooper have yielded work that has been displayed in galleries and events across America and Europe. Even among San Francisco fetish fetes, the Up Your Alley street fair stands alone. The raunchier and more gay-centric cousin of the Folsom Street Fair is a huge event on the leather community calendar, with public floggings, pee and pony play, fellatio, and intercourse all part of the package. It’s a “voyeur’s paradise,” observes Supervisor (and mayoral hopeful) Bevan Dufty, a regular attendee (but not participant, we should note).

But Up Your Alley is being forced to clean up its act after several people complained to police about public indecency laws being violated at last year’s event.

Does that mean that there will be no naughtiness at this year’s SOMA sexfest on Dore Alley? No, master!

“You’ll definitely still see spankings, and floggings, and play piercings — all the things to which people are accustomed to seeing,” organizer Demetri Moshoyannis said, describing the new rules. But there is a, ahem, hard line which shall not be crossed, lest fairgoers be ejected from the two-block fetish fest: an exposed, erect penis. Public blow jobs are also forbidden, although event security will be handing out free passes to nearby “Blow Buddies” where couples can get more intimate indoors.

Moshoyannis says the new rules should please decency- and deviance-seekers alike: “You can see some pretty extreme scenes that don’t expose any genitals.” What about pissing? “If someone pisses in their pants? I’m not going to do anything about that.”

This is all well and fine with the SFPD. Lieutenant Nicole Greely says police don’t plan to have much more of a presence at Up Your Alley on Sunday than the 14 officers last year, and will continue to be hands-off and let the event police itself (so no cop fantasies, sorry).

But you can’t please everybody. Mike Hughes, a gay man and self-described “member of the community,” thinks public sex will happen again this year despite the new rules, and that reflects badly on the gay community as a whole (and may have helped Proposition 8′s cause). “Public nudity is fine,” he says, “but golden showers in the goddamned street?”

Hughes complained about last year’s event to the police and the mayor’s office: “It’s not what they do, it’s where they do it. It holds up the rest of us to ridicule.”

Here’s a tidbit of news from the New York fetish scene:

Word on the street has it that the official Paddles OTK Night Munch is going to be run by a spanko couple familiar to many in NYC and around the country. Here are some hints: He’s a Top with a penchant for discipline and role play. She’s a switch who can take as well as give it hard. Both have attended many parties and even had their first play date at Paddles — an event that set them on the course towards a happy marriage.

OK, coyness is not my strong suit. Sandy and yours truly, the infamous Radagast, will be taking over the reins of the OTK Night Munch starting in August (there will not be an OTK Night in July so no munch). The munch has gone through many able hands over the years, all of the folks running it have given their all and it has shown. Sandy and I will hope to do their hard work justice and perhaps add our own stamp to the event. We’ve got some ideas that are percolating inside of our heads to make the Munch more fun and continue its role as a place where people who are stepping out into the scene for the first time and veterans alike can get together in a welcoming environment. It will, of course, continue to be a way to get a discount for OTK Night so that’s not shabby either.
