Everything seems like a dream. I was hoping to find a nice screen capture from the Family Guy episode where Lois and Peter do a BDSM scene. You know the one, “The safety word is banana.” So I entered “Family Guy Bondage” into google, and I find this little gem. I wanted to use this image as an example of Kink in the Mainstream, but I have been thwarted by the Fetishism of the Marketplace. Damn. That just proves, and dilutes my point. You win this one, Universe. Look at the clothes these figures are wearing, then go to the VOD Theater, and look at these. Kink is so entrenched, society’s (general) denial is as absurd as that of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. “It’s just a flesh wound!” I hear, “It’s just a cartoon!” from the Peanut Gallery. Riiiiiiiiiiight. That’s why MEZCO chose the bondage gear for their product, instead of the usual clothes worn in every episode. We’re not celebrating the show, or the characters of Peter and Lois. We’re instead celebrating that scene. The honesty, and naughtiness (and creepiness… a little) of the Bondage scene resonates. Why is that?
